WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The Republican National Committee is warning television stations across the country not to run ads from the MoveOn.org Voter Fund that criticize President Bush, charging that the left-leaning political group is paying for them with money raised in violation of the new campaign-finance law.
rant
Ummm, since when is it the job of the Republican National Committee to enforce the law? In fact, when did it become the job of the Republican National Committee to adjucicate the law?
If the RNC believes that MoveOn.com is in violation of campaign finance law, then they should file a complaint with the FCC, since this supposed illegal money is being used to pay for airtime, or they should file a criminal complaint with the U.S. Attorney General's office.
To side-track these steps and make such statements to television stations is blatant political pandering and could be considered slanderous or libelous (depending on the method they used to warn) as the charge has been in no way substantiated. This shows the true colors of the RNC. I predict as the election nears, the RNC will continue to dive into the gutter in an effort to swing the election in their favor rather than focus on issues and the Republican record for the last 3 years.
