rant
No, that is actually *sigh.* The Conference of Major Superiors of Men, a Roman-Catholic organization comprised of the leaders of the various religious orders, i.e. Jesuits, Benedictines, has voted to keep abusive priests in their orders. They further state that the abusive priests will just be monitored and kept from children.
Well, actually, I agree with the conference on this point. Where our opinions diverge is with the method. I firmly believe that abusive priests should be monitored closely and kept from children. My system for doing this is called prison.
Admittedly, I am not Catholic. I was married to one for a short time, but I claim no expertise by any stretch of the imagination. Do these Catholic leaders think that abusive priests should not go to prison? In my honest opinion, they should not ever get out of prison.
Truth be told, I subscribe to the Dennis Miller opinion when it comes to pedophiles:
If you ever feel the urge to have sexual relations with a child, do not seek help.
KILL YOURSELF!
Studies have shown the recidivism rate amongst pedophiles is 99 percent. How is it the Catholics think they can beat those odds.
